Windows 10 to Windows 11
My laptop has just prompted me to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11. It gives me the choice to go ahead or stay on Windows 10 and |I am unsure if it is more hassle than it is worth such as mucking around with anything I have installed and my layout preferences etc as well as saved internet tabs.

Anyone upgraded yet and if so pros/cons or indeed if there is not much change from 10 is it really worth it?

You cunts?

Re: Windows 10 to Windows 11
I've upgraded and my view it's fucking shit not worth the bother

By the way, if you do upgrade you have to have a fairly modern PC otherwise you can't upgrade, specifically you need a TPM or Trusted Platform Module, you may have it but it needs turning on in the BIOS UEFI settings

Re: Windows 10 to Windows 11
I am on windows 10 and laptop is about 2 years old so not even sure if it will let me upgrade. Considering I am happy with what I am using and after a bit of reading just now it seems more hassle than what it is worth so think I will leave it

Minor shit but shit nevertheless, for instance, I want to see day of the week on the time as sometimes I don't know what fucking day it is, also file explorer you need to click more than once to copy paste etc, like I said, minor shit but still

Re: Windows 10 to Windows 11
Windows 11 is still Windows 10 with a new look - under the skin it’s the Windows 21H2 update, the same build they’ve used to make Server 2022 on the server side.

As long as you meet the new hardware requirements around TPM then you should be absolutely fine

Re: Windows 10 to Windows 11
Writing stuff for Windows is a pain, as its APIs try to hide the fact that its core is fucking ancient, and only pretend to be object-oriented.

The whole thing should be rewritten using modern techniques, instead of abusing modern techniques to prop it up.

I doubt Windows 11 is that rewrite.

It's nothing like the change from DOS to Windows 3 nor the one from 3.0 to 3.1. It's the usual thing now. Some annoying changes that you want to put back and wonder why on earth they altered but generally you probably won't notice..

What FC said too. Right-clicking to rename - something I do a lot - now takes two clicks. Why?

Windows is a load of crap. Why issue a upgrade that won't work on thousands of PCs/Laptops. Idiots.

Part of a strategy to make you upgrade your device?

Windows 11? Rubbish! I use Windows 95 which by my maths is eighty four better.

I suppose now is as good a time as any to get into Linux, especially now that steam has got Proton running most games well on it.

If you need to ask why and feel that's a problem you don't want to examine, then may as well just continue doing what you're told and upgrade and continue paying through the nose to meet the ever expanding unnecessary hardware requirements and demands made on you to keep the industry going.

It's all about choices, and these days those choices are being removed from each and every avenue of your life one by one until eventually you find yourself owning nothing but you'll be the happier for it, apparently, so the latest WEF/UN blurb says

I’ll stick to W10 thanks Mr Gates, it works on my old PC and is stable.
